recaps discussion news cast 92 December 17, 2015January 23, 2016 Oh My Venus Episode 10 by LollyPip Itâs time to get down to businessâand quite literally, in Young-hoâs case. But schemers behind the scenes arenât going to make it easy for him, and Young-ho will have to decide whether heâs up for a fight or not. Luckily heâs got some pretty amazing people on his side, supporting whatever decision he makes. EPISODE 10 RECAP We go back to the campfire confession, where Young-ho drops the bomb that he and Joo-eun are dating. Later the two of them sit at Hyun-wooâs restaurant, while Hyun-woo stares daggers at Young-ho and gives him the third degree about his assets and career. Heâs deliberately vague, which hilariously makes him sound like a loser. But Hyun-woo giggles to Joo-eun thatâs heâs pretty sexy, which makes up for the fact that heâs apparently got nothing to offer. Her ex shows up to give her a child support check, and he asks who that guy is with Joo-eun. He asks if Joo-eun lost weight to get back at Woo-shik, but when Hyun-woo waves him off, he mutters that heâs busy enough with this whole John Kim thing anyway. Ji-woong drive home together and discuss their bossâs admission, and they agree that this seems like more than just a casual thing. They say itâs because Joo-eun is such a great person, though Ji-woong jokes that he feels like his mom is suddenly dating. Joon-sung tells him to just call his real mom more, ha. When Young-ho defies Manager Minâs recommendation to let go of his personal life right now in favor of the company, and introduces Joo-eun to Min as the woman heâs dating, Min canât even think of anything to say. Though he does look amused when Joo-eun pretends not to live here, and Young-ho tells her that Min already knows. The two men agree that things could get bad when Young-hoâs father and grandmother find out, but Young-ho isnât willing to stop seeing Joo-eun just because it might get difficult. Min points out that it could be much worse for Joo-eun than Young-ho, and Young-ho just says that thatâs why heâs counting on Min to help them. Min does agree to pretend he never met her, but she means too much to Young-ho for him to accept that as a solution. He goes inside to find Joo-eun with her suitcase packed, and she says sheâll sleep at Hyun-wooâs. Young-ho tells her not to be silly â itâs her last night here, so she should stay. The boys are out exercising, and Young-ho gets that glint in his eyes again⊠whatever shall they do, all alone in the house together? He suggests a âcomfortable, erotic nightâ like Joo-eun is always saying, which earns him a punch to the gut. Woo-shik and Soo-jin meet at a bar, though Soo-jin is still cold and refuses a drink. Woo-shik apologizes again for being unavailable lately, but Soo-jin isnât moved, and says that they can say sorry over the phone. She walks out but stops outside the door, waiting to see if Woo-shik will follow, and sighs sadly when he doesnât. Young-ho and Joo-eun sit in their rooms thinking about the nightâs events, until the boys come home from the gym. Soon after, Joo-eun shows up in Young-hoâs room with her pillow and the excuse that she forgot the last part of camping â staying up all night talking. Young-ho is frustrated that she insists on laying on the floor, so Joo-eun lays down some ground rules if sheâs going to come up to the bed. No hugging, and no touching except hands and feet. Young-ho protests, grouching that he took her clothes off within five minutes of meeting her, so this seems a bit strict. But Joo-eun says that his âyour body is mineâ rule is over, since sheâs almost finished losing weight. Itâs driving Young-ho mad, but he agrees, and beckons her up. HAHA, Joo-eun lays with her head at the foot of the bed and her feet in Young-hoâs face. I donât think thatâs what he was expecting. But he takes it with grace, and asks her why she became a lawyer. Using his foot as a âmicrophone,â Joo-eun says that she just wanted to right the unfair things that happen in the world. Young-ho tries to cop a little feel with his feet and gets smacked. Too cute. Joo-eun drifts off to sleep, hugging Young-hoâs foot while he watches her, remembering how much fun itâs been having her living here and how theyâve grown closer. He sits up to see her face better, tippig her head to the side when she starts to gently snore. Young-ho wakes the next morning to find that Joo-eun has left already, but she left a gift behind for her boys. Thereâs a tiny Superwoman figurine for Joon-sung, with the hope that he meets his own Superwoman, and a Wonder Woman for Ji-woong with the same wish. For Young-ho, whoâs already found Daeguâs Venus, thereâs a book on dating. She also made them all a hearty stew for breakfast, but Young-ho seems sad as they all sit to eat. When the doorbell rings, excited-puppy Ji-woong wilts to see that itâs Manager Min and not his Maâam. As she packs her old place, Joo-eun stops when she sees the bandages sheâs kept stuck to the back of her phone, which trigger memories of her first meeting with Young-ho. She takes them off her phone and leaves them stuck to the wall when she goes to work. Soo-jin stops by Joo-eunâs office to remind her of the Gahong Directorâs meeting the next day. Thereâs a smaller meeting to day that only Soo-jin will be attending, and she snidely asks if that makes Joo-eun uncomfortable because of her relationship with Young-ho. Joo-eun just retorts that sheâs uncomfortable with Soojin, because of their personal relationship. Soo-jin asks if Joo-eun is dreaming of some kind of fairy-tale Cinderella ending with Young-ho, and if she wants to leave the Gahong legal team. Joo-eun throws her own words back in her face, that someone needs to do the work, and nothing will change if she leaves the team. The information that Joo-eun requested on Joon-sungâs past arrives, which includes adoption papers and his birth motherâs name â Jae Soon-ja. Joo-eun frowns, thinking sheâs heard this name before. A trio of haughty ajummas stare at Stepmom at a gallery, gossiping about how she still lives with her mother-in-law even though the grandson is now taking over Gahong. Stepmom gracefully ignores them, though theyâre quick to fawn over Grandma when she arrives. Grandma goes chilly when she sees Stepmom and walks away ignoring her, which obviously hurts. Young-ho loses patience with Manager Minâs repeated reciting of his schedule and tells him to pick him out a nice necktie â not like that tacky one heâs wearing. Aww, Min looks a little pouty at that, hee. On the way to work Young-ho texts Joo-eun and proposes they see each other later, but she says sheâs tired and they can see each other any time. Uncle heads up a small secret meeting, where the board members decide to leave Young-ho alone if heâs just planning to keep the Directorâs seat warm, but itâs war if he tries to actually enact any change. After, Woo-shik reminds Uncle that Young-ho will get the Chairwomanâs shares, making him the largest shareholder. So for now, Woo-shik advises that they retreat and regroup. Uncle takes great offense at this suggestion, saying that at least they can make things difficult for Young-ho. The small directorâs meeting starts, and itâs awkward right away with Woo-shik and Soo-jin both there. It gets worse when Young-ho refuses to sign off on a project without studying up on it first, not even when heâs told that his father has been monitoring its progress. After the meeting, Soo-jin slides Young-ho a gift of organic tea, and tells him that sheâs been friends with both Joo-eun and Woo-shik for years. Young-ho says thatâs not what heâs heard from Joo-eun, but he understands that she wonât let her personal and professional lives get tangled. Woo-shik grabs Soo-jin to talk before she can leave the building, upset that she didnât tell him sheâd be here today. But Soo-jin says that theyâre not that close, only having kissed a few times, so she has no reason to report to him. Heâs upset, but she says that if he couldnât make it work with Joo-eun after fifteen years, what makes him think the two of them would last? Young-ho reports to his next meeting â dinner with Grandma. Heâs surprised to see his previous blind date there too, and mutters to Min that heâll pay for this. Then Grandma bails on dinner, leaving Young-ho and his âdateâ alone. Wow, sheâs not even trying to hide the manipulation anymore, and on her way out she tells Young-ho that sheâs tired of waiting for him to get married. Young-hoâs date catches on that he may have someone he likes already, but he claims that marriage is not even on his radar right now with his life being so busy. He lets her down gently and to her credit, she accepts it gracefully and agrees not to tell their parents. She really does seem like a sweet girl, just not right for Young-ho. Apparently Young-hoâs father told his wife he was on a business trip, keeping the hospital a secret. Like father, like son. Stepmom asks on Young-joonâs behalf what his father wants him to major in, but Dad just says he should study what he wants. Stepmom says that Dad wasnât like this with Young-ho, and asks him what kind of son Young-joon is to him. She also tells him that she knows heâs been getting chemotherapy for a year, and asks him to be honest about his illness from now on. Joon-sung and Ji-woong show up at Joo-eunâs new place with You Bastard in tow, bringing her the fancy sweet coffee she likes. They eat dinner, Joo-eun and Joon-sung glaring over their salads as Ji-woong chows down on jjajangmyun, calling him a traitor for not gaining weight. They thank her for their figurines, calling her Sister-in-Law, though Joo-eun says she prefers âMaâam.â The boys go to exercise at the pool, and Joon-sung teases Ji-woong for being afraid of water when he wants to join the Marines. A girl starts to struggle in the pool and Joon-sung saves her, only belatedly realizing that itâs Yi-jin. She appears to be unconcious and Ji-woong suggests that Joon-sung do mouth-to-mouth, and he cringes but complies. Of course her eyes pop open after his first breath and she squeals that they finally kissed, because she was never in any danger. Ji-woong was in on it, and Joon-sung is furious, rightly so. Again, even Yi-jinâs manager is embarrassed on her behalf. Woo-shik meets PD Go for drinks, who asks flat-out if the new Director of Gahong is John Kim. This time Woo-shik scoffs at the idea, but PD Go found out that Gahong paid American papparazzi to keep their mouths shut about John Kim. He also thinks that Woo-shik knows something. Woo-shik warns him that without solid evidence, this could blow up in his face. Joo-eun perks up when her doorbell rings, hoping itâs Young-ho despite telling him that thereâs no need to see each other today, and she slumps when itâs just a nearby restaurant with fliers. The doorbell rings again and this time nobody answers her call, so she grabs her umbrella before opening the door. But this time it is Young-ho, with the poinsettias that she left at his place. She turns to take them inside and Young-ho unexpectedly grabs her in a backhug, and says that he canât stay. He turns her around when she mentions the meeting tomorrow, to warn her that it will be difficult for her and ask if anyone else can do it. But she assures him that itâs only a short-term thing, and she can handle it. She gives Young-ho a quick kiss and sends him on his way, but not before he gives her exercise homework, ha. Woo-shik gets a call from PD Go that heâs got definite proof of John Kim, having paid the American paparrazzi for photos of him with Anna Sue. The photos need retouching to absolutely prove the manâs identity, and Woo-shik asks how long that will take. The entire family show up at the Gahong building for the big meeting â Grandma, Dad, Uncle, and Young-ho. Waiting for them, Soo-jin says that Joo-eun must be nervous, but Joo-eun shakes her off. Perfectly professional, Young-ho walks past Joo-eun without even glancing at her, while at the back of the crowd, Woo-shik canât take his eyes off Soo-jin. Things are tense in the meeting room when the rest of the board fails to show up. Dad suggests they reschedule and Grandma agrees, while Uncle counts this as their first victory. On the way out, Soo-jin crows about the fact that Young-ho never acknowledged Joo-eun, who basically tells her to back off and mind her own business. On the drive home Young-ho asks Manager Min to get him the documents of all the VVIPs, muttering that Uncle is more determined than he expected. We see that he did notice Joo-eun today, but sheâd had her head bowed and missed it. He starts to call her aww, he has her in his phone as âDaeguâs Venusâ but changes his mind. As she unpacks, Joo-eun finds a dress that sheâd previously fit into, and tries it on. Sheâs ecstatic that it fits again, and primps her hair and face to match. But then she grows sad when her phone continues not to ring, so she calls her mom. She thanks her for raising her, which makes Mom all shy. Next Joo-eun gets a call from Hyun-woo, who asks accusatorily if her boyfriend is John Kim, and the new Director of Gahong. Itâs all over the internet, and Joo-eun confirms it for herself. She tries to call Young-ho but his phone is off, as are Joon-sungâs and Ji-woongâs. She runs outside, still dressed to the nines, and finds Young-ho at her door looking pathetic. Sheâs just relieved to see him safe, but he notices how good she looks and jokes that heâs at the wrong house. She says she was coming to find him and asks if heâs okay, which just gets a tentative nod. He says he canât go home or to the hotel because of all the reporters, but Joo-eun starts to smile. She says that she only has one bedroom, but heâs welcome to come in if he wants, to see something outside of his world. She pulls him in for a hug, and he leans in and lets her comfort him. COMMENTS Aww, here we go, get ready for the angst. Luckily I feel as though Joo-eun and Young-ho have had enough time to feel secure in their relationship, and I trust that they wonât let any Noble Idiocy get in the way of their happiness. Especially since this whole Gahong situation isnât even something Young-ho wants â I think he just doesnât want to let people down. Heâs so sensitive that way⊠so while he may not care about running the company per se, he does care very much that he not be a disappointment to people he cares about. I definitely feel that Young-hoâs father has been badly misinterpreted. Thereâs no doubt that heâs a cold, distant father, but I think his actions over the course of Young-hoâs life have been more for Young-hoâs benefit than it originally seemed. Even when his son begged him to make the pain stop, he insisted on the surgeries, which probably saved Young-hoâs life in the long term. He held his sonâs position in the company for decades after his wife died, even when it seems that he didnât truly want the job and he couldnât know that Young-ho wouldnât want it, either. He even remained living in his former mother-in-lawâs home, which couldnât have been an easy situation. And now when his second son asks what he should major in at school, he tells him to study what he wants. I think that Dad isnât uncaring as we thought, but just a man who doesnât wear his heart on his sleeve. But itâs becoming clear that he does care for his children, quite deeply, and heâs growing on me. While I want to be sympathetic to Soo-jin because sheâs obviously deeply depressed and troubled, her behavior is so off-putting that Iâm just frustrated with her. Woo-shik is making an honest effort to apologize to her for goingto Joo-eunâs rescue against her stalker, and Soo-jin says that what she likes about him is his sense of loyalty. But then she turns around and cut him to the bone, refusing to even speak to him or give him a chance, because of that same issue. Aside from his office shenanigans, heâs not a bad guy, and I believe he honestly likes Soo-jin. So why is she being like this towards him? I suspect itâs because her relationship with him didnât gain her the jealousy and envy of Joo-eun like sheâd hoped, and that in fact sheâs not really that interested in Woo-shik at all. Which is a shame, because if she could let go of whateverâs been bothering her all these years and just talk to Joo-eun and clear it up, I think she and Woo-shik could actually be a pretty good match. But sheâs so busy holding onto her anger from her college days that sheâs missing the opportunity thatâs right in front of her, right now. Itâs really no wonder that Young-ho is so emotionally twisted up, with his family the way it is. Mother dies young, father withholds affection and sends him away for most of his life, and fighting cancer and the fear of death for years would be bad enough. But Grandma, who claims to love him and want whatâs best for him, is the worst manipulator of all of them. She spies on him to find out that heâs in Korea, tricks him into staying in Korea when he only planned on visiting, and maneuvers him into this Director position without ever even talking to him, much less asking what he wants. Now sheâs just flat-out tricking him into situations he doesnât care for with this blind date girl, pretending itâs fate that they keep meeting when itâs always just Grandma playing mind games. And Young-ho, sweet soul that he is and wanting to make people happy, lets it happen time and again. But he pays the price with his health, and he canât afford to let himself get sick again just to make his family happy. I hope that Young-hoâs feelings for Joo-eun are enough to press him into speaking up and refusing to go along with these machinations anymore, because itâs well past time for him to say No, this is my life, stay out of it. Plus thereâs a small part of me that just wants to see Young-ho get angry, yell and scream and kick for the right to live his own life, and nuke his whole family from orbit.

recaps discussion news cast 113 December 24, 2015January 23, 2016 Oh My Venus Episode 12 by LollyPip This episode is just full of warm fuzzy moments, mostly among Young-hoâs little self-made family. Theyâre growing closer and more loving as time goes on, which is so wonderful to watch. But dark clouds are looming, and a storm will break soon. Itâs a good thing that that family is there, because theyâre about to be sorely needed. EPISODE 12 RECAP After collapsing in stress-fueled pain, Young-ho is given a pep talk by Joo-eun, and he collects himself enough to enter the event hall. Heâs called to the podium right away, and he looks to Joo-eun for confidence just for a moment, before he introduces himself as the new director of Gahong. As the applause dies down, Yi-jin plunks herself down in the chair next to Joon-sung, and I love how Joon-sung automatically assumes this is another of Ji-woongâs schemes. But as it turns out, her father is one of the CEOs of Gahong. She mentions coyly that she and Joon-sung have lain together, which of course Ji-woong takes in the naughty way, but Joon-sung just grumbles at her to please go away. Seriously girl, go away. Stepmom stayed at home tonight, and Uncle calls her to give her an update, but not before griping at her for not showing up and blaming her for being the family outcast. He hangs up and heads back to the hall, and we see that Young-joon came all the way from America, and overheard Uncleâs conversation with his mother. Meanwhile Stepmom looks at a picture of her son on her phone, and tells him that sheâs just fine. But sheâs definitely not fine. After the event, Young-ho keeps a straight face as he walks through the paparazzi to his car, but his control slips when he sees Joo-eun being jostled by the crowd. But she sends him a little finger-heart, and he winks back, and his expression relaxes. Once heâs gone, Joo-eun sits on the steps to rest her feet, sore from her ultra-high heels. Sheâs there for quite some time, seeming to be actually injured, until someone approaches her â itâs Young-ho. He says he forgot to tell her how pretty she looked today, â⊠pretty enough to be in my dreams every night.â Well, excuse me while I swoon. He notices Joo-eun massaging her foot, and kneels to check it out while teasing that sheâll never be Cinderella. He comments on the size of her feet and she counters that sheâs not a small lady, and Young-ho agrees that she seems bigger every time he sees her. He means âbiggerâ as in âmore important,â which is sweet. He suggests they get her foot x-rayed, but she tells him to go rest and sheâll just take her pumpkin carriage home. They both look up to see Ji-woong and Joon-sung waiting for her. They both look mighty handsome in their tuxes, by the way. While Joo-eunâs boys are fawning over her, Soo-jin walks herself to her car alone, staggering and looking unwell. She starts to collapse, but sheâs caught by Woo-shik, whoâs finally in the right place at the right time. Soo-jin allows him to take her home, but then asks him to leave. Woo-shik thanks her for helping hide the fact that he leaked Young-hoâs John Kim identity from the press, but she says she just didnât want the bother. The kind way heâs looking at her gets to her and she tells him sheâs not a nice person â sheâs vicious and cruel, the kind of bitch who steals her friendâs boyfriend. Woo-shik just says thatâs not true, that she is a nice person, which starts Soo-jin screaming that sheâs not. Woo-shik just folds her in a hug, and asks if she remembers that day she passed the bar and had the disappointing blind date. Even as she was crying in shame, sheâd noticed his injured hand from punching her jerk date and been upset for him. Soo-jin pushes him away and says that sheâs changed, but his sympathetic expression doesnât waver. Woo-shik says that he understands if sheâs mad over the incident with Joo-eunâs stalker, but he noticed that she also ran to the police station that night and protected him. As her eyes well up, he says that she hasnât changed at all. She still thinks of others first. Soo-jin finally breaks, and sobs on Woo-shikâs shoulder. The boys help Joo-eun hop into her apartment, a little too enthusiastically, ha. Her mom has come to visit as a surprise, and looks shocked to see her daughter with two such handsome men. They proudly preen when Joo-eun says that theyâre her friends, and that they brought her home because she hurt her ankle. Ji-woong treats Mom to one of his patented attack-hugs, which she thoroughly enjoys, hee. Joon-sung has to physically drag Ji-woong off Mom, who asks them to stay for a meal. Ji-woong notices that Mom is wearing Young-hoâs clothes, and I just canât even anymore with these people, theyâre too adorably hilarious. Mom sets a huge table full of food that the boys arenât supposed to eat, but they tuck in, too polite to turn this sweet woman down. Then they turn complete traitor and urge Joo-eun to eat also, who mutters that itâs a wonder she wasnât even heavier than she was. Joo-eun texts Young-ho later that night to ask about his leg, and he fusses at her for eating chicken legs with the boys. Hey, someone tattled. But Joo-eun says you donât argue with Mom, or sheâll nag you to death. Young-ho tells her heâs starting work tomorrow, adding that she can let Min-joonâs mom know that heâs no longer unemployed, ha. Joo-eun gives him advice from someone who was gainfully employed first, and hopes that his leg holds up. She offers to beat up his psychological issue, but he responds that itâs not something anyone can cure. At least thatâs what the doctor said, but now he thinks the doctor was wrong. The texts turn flirtacious as Young-ho complains that he canât sleep from all the hearts coming out of his eyes, but Mom interrupts, assuming that Joo-eun is texting Woo-shik. Joo-eun doesnât correct her, for now. At breakfast the next morning, Ji-woong and Joon-sung sing the praises of Joo-eunâs mom to Young-ho, who just nods and switches his breakfast for Ji-woongâs porridge, a gift from Mom. Heâs jealous! He starts to give them instructions on how to train while heâs gone for the day, but they assure him that theyâre all grown up now and can take care of themselves. Ji-woong says that he misses his Maâam, crooning, âOh, my Venus,â which makes Young-ho suck his teeth at him and growl that sheâs his. So cute. Manager Min brings Joo-eun a rose to welcome him to his new job, which is just the sweetest thing. He says that the legal and PR teams are taking care of the scandal talk, but itâs up to Young-ho to deal with rumors in-house. He also warns Young-ho that Grandma knows about Joo-eun. Thereâs a small board meeting, after which Uncle hangs out in Young-hoâs office to schmooze the new boss. Young-ho isnât interested, and Uncle leaves looking annoyed. Young-ho invites Joo-eun to lunch, but sheâs just eaten, so he suggests a video chat. Thereâs a knock on Joo-eunâs office door, and there he is, looking like the cat that ate the cream. He steals her away from work, walking with his arm around her to steady her on her bad foot and drawing a lot of stares from her coworkers. He whispers that they have to finish what they started, and Joo-eun immediately remembers his promise to finish their erotic night later. But she pouts when he only takes her to the clinic where they did her original measurements, to get some updated numbers. She doesnât want to do this now any more than the first time and claims to be swamped at work, but he already found out from her assistant that sheâs free the rest of the day. She pulls out all her tricks, giving him the oppa-pout and popping both dimples at him, but he valiantly shakes it off and drags her away for bloodwork. Joo-eun makes such a fuss over the needle that Young-ho buys her a coffee treat afterwards, and he studies her test results. Joo-eun gets a bit defensive and says sheâs almost done losing weight, and anyway he said she was pretty. But Young-ho retorts that being pretty inside is more important than being pretty outside. Good answer, sir. He compliments her on her athleteâs build and wonders why she focused on studying, and she gives him the evil eye. He congratulates her on losing all that belly fat, and she reminds him that she can do anything she sets her mind to. He even says that if she keeps up the good work, she may even get off her thyroid medication. Stepmom brings Grandma her tea and says that sheâll be moving out on her own, unwilling to come between Grandma and her grandson. She thanks Grandma for everything over the years, even though she knows that Grandma never warmed up to her. Grandma does say that she wishes Uncle were less greedy, and admits that sheâs been tough on Stepmom. She compensates Stepmom for twenty years of taking care of her. Joo-eun goes to Hyun-wooâs place to talk to Joon-sungâs mother, carrying the coat from him with her. The woman already knows that Joon-sung is her son, and Joo-eun tells her not to worry, that Hyun-woo knows everything. Joon-sungâs mother says that a few years ago, a handsome man came to her and said that he was watching over her son. Aww, it must have been Young-ho. She starts to cry and says that nothing good can come of having a mother with a tough life â she wants to meet him as his mother, but she just canât. She begs Joo-eun not to say anything to him. But Joo-eun gently argues that Joon-sung is tough, so even though sheâs sorry, canât she embrace him now? She also tell sher that what happened wasât her fault, and that anyone in her position could have done what she did. Sheâs not a bad person. On her ride home, Joo-eun texts Young-ho to say that she met with Joon-sungâs mother. She adds that sheâs happy heâs the man sheâs with, feeling warm fuzzies from knowing what he did those years ago. He calls her right back to demand that she say out loud how happy she is to be with him. She laughs at him and says that sheâll tell him in person. Young-ho lets his father know that he wonât be signing the approval for the VVIP medical center â there are too many issues and it will cost too much. Dad basically says itâs Young-hoâs decision to make, but I saw that little smile. Youâre proud of your son, arenât you, sir? He mentions Young-hoâs birthday in two days, and Young-ho visibly stiffens. Dad tells him to come to the house to see his grandmother, and Young-ho agrees. Joon-sung and Ji-woong go all out decorating the Christmas tree and wrapping gifts, and aww, it turns out that Young-ho is a Christmas baby. They invite everyone over for a dual-purpose party, and Hyun-woo and Min-joon bring the cake. So cute â the boys are in tuxes again to celebrate their favorite person. Ji-woong and Joon-sung literally puff out their chests when they admit they did all the cooking themselves, and even Young-ho relaxes his food rules for the holiday. They have a blast, playing games and joking around. Joo-eun calls her mother, whoâs busy making japchae and tells Joo-eun that everything is fine. But when they hang up, Mom wilts a little, and looks at her deceased husbandâs picture wistfully. Joo-eun also gets a bit misty, as she watches Young-ho cuddling with Min-joon, but looking like his mind is elsewhere. She thinks that even on a day when everyone is supposed to be happy, not everyone actually is. Sometimes everyoneâs happiness can make a person even lonelier. Young-ho catches her watching him and smiles. We see Joon-sungâs mother, struggling with wanting to call him, while Joo-eun continues that sometimes thereâs a good reason you canât see the person you want to see. And then we cut to Young-joon, being wheeled into the hospital on a gurney, while Stepmom tries unsuccessfully to call him. Joo-eun and Young-ho snuggle on the couch, and the hour grows late. She heads home, but says for him to come by her place after he sees his grandmother. He asks if they can finish that erotic night that was interrupted, and she just says sheâll wait for him wearing a pink bow. Sounds like a âyesâ to me. Suddenly Joon-sung comes running into the room, stammering that his mother called him and wants to see him. Aw, the hopeful joy on his face is beautiful. Young-ho lets him take his car and his wallet, telling Joon-sung to take her to eat somewhere nice. He thanks Joo-eun and Young-ho with a shaking voice, and runs out. Stepmom finally gets a call from Young-joon, but itâs only the hospital calling from his phone. She arrives at the emergency room frantic, and the doctor tells her that it was a drug overdose. Oh no. Heâs still unconscious, and itâs touch-and-go. Dad approaches Uncle like heâd like to say something, but instead just walks away. Uncle chases him down to ask how this could happen, blaming Dad for how his sister is treated by the Gahong family, and now this. Dad keeps his composure and just says that when Young-joon wakes theyâll all talk, but his red-rimmed eyes give away his inner conflict. Still upset, Uncle takes it out on his sister when she finds him. He asks why Dad married her â if he hadnât, he would have gotten half of Gahong. He only remarried so that Young-ho would get everything. Unless something happens to get Young-ho out of the picture, Young-joon will never have anything. He walks away and calls someone, and orders them to find out where Young-ho is now. As he goes, we see that the man reading the paper in the lobby nearby is actually Manager Min, and heâs heard everything. He calls Young-ho and gives him a warning that we donât hear, and Young-ho panics when he realizes that he sent Joon-sung out in his car. Young-ho follows Joon-sung when he doesnât answer his phone, and Uncle isnât far behind. Heâs told where to look for Young-hoâs car and heads in that direction. Young-ho spots Uncle out on the road and follows him, determined to stop him from hurting Joon-sung. Uncle closes in on Joon-sung, looking murderous, but heâs cut off by Young-ho just as he guns the motor. Uncleâs car spins off the road, but Young-hoâs car is thrown into oncoming traffic. He swerves to miss a truck and flips his car, and oh god oh god, this is bad. Joon-sung sees the accident and stops to help, only realizing that the man in the car is Young-ho when he gets close. Young-ho is unconscious and bleeding badly from the head, and his bad knee seems crushed beneath the steering wheel. Screaming for his hyung, Joon-sung tries to free Young-ho, but heâs pinned in the car. COMMENTS Damn, I was not expecting that. And it looks as though Young-hoâs already bad knee has been crushed in the accident, which is so not good. But still, part of me hopes thatâs whatâs wrong and that that head wound doesnât signal upcoming amnesia, because that would really just be too trope-y for this show. Not that Oh My Venus doesnât have its share of the old familiar drama standbys, but it manages to present them in such a way that we almost donât notice⊠or at least donât care, since even the tropes are given a unique spin. Throwing amnesia into this would be too clichĂ©, so Iâll say something that sounds strnange without context â please please, let his leg be Young-hoâs major injury. Again, I still donât understand Uncleâs reasoning behind wanting to get rid of Young-ho, first figuratively and now literally. I donât quite follow how his nephew will get Gahong if Young-ho is gone. Whether or not Young-ho is around, Young-joon is not actually related to the owning family, so how would he become the heir if Young-ho were out of the picture? Simply by being the only other young male around? Maybe itâs obvious and Iâm not seeing it, but it just makes no logical sense. Itâs so like Young-ho to sacrifice himself for those he loves, and itâs obvious that he loves Joon-sung very much. Iâm not at all surprised that he drove his car into Uncleâs path to save his friend and protoge. He has a clear soft spot for Joon-sung, being one of his âweak and in dangerâ projects that has grown to become closer than his family. I just hope he doesnât end up losing his leg or making his pain worse, because of his tendency to put others first. If I have any complaint about this show that seems so open and honest in so many ways, itâs the way that Young-hoâs dad is still holding everything so close to the vest. Itâs clear by now that heâs not the cold, distant father young-ho has always percieved him to be, but actually cares very much for his son. I wonder why he holds himself so far apart from Young-ho ââ was it fear to get too attached to a sick child? Worry that being too indulgent would make him soft? Whatever the reason, I hope that Young-ho starts to see and feel his fatherâs love like weâre seeing it. Heâs taken a lot of his own personality from his dad, not usually being particularly demonstrative until he met Joo-eun, that is, and I would love to see both men become closer, and by extension open up more to those around them. Maybe this accident will be the catalyst they need to start talking to each other. But the best part of Oh My Venus, hands down, is the family that Young-ho has made for himself, and their obvious love for each other. If anyone can help Young-ho, however this accident plays out, itâs them. They wonât let him sink into self-pity or give up, and I trust that theyâll be there for him, whatever he needs. Iâm terrified for Young-ho, but Iâm hopeful that with the support of the many people who love him, things will turn out just fine. Right??
